FOODIE GEMS IN CASTLEMAINE

Q’s started working with “hospitality virtuoso…..” (as quoted in The Age 2013 Good Food Guide) Hayden Winch and his collection of eateries in Central Victoria.

Just as the gold rush town of Castlemaine is redefining itself as one of Victoria’s hubs of good food and contemporary art, Winch is redefining eating and drinking in the town with PUBLIC INN. It’s contemporary and chic remodel of the former “swinging arms” pub features restaurant style food with top-notch regional ingredients and local wines.

There’s also the old Castlemaine Fires Station that’s been given a Winch makeover to create rePUBLIC – a coffee and eating depot that’s already a local hot spot. Winch is rolling out a series of fun food and wine events including regular “Story Telling for Grown Ups” sessions featuring local authors matched with tasting plates and local Central Victorian wines as well as 100 mile seasonal lunch events.

And plans are afoot for a new style filled destination dining room offering weekend services only and a microbrewery.  Lots of news to share, food to enjoy and good company to keep!
